Spring is here for now....until the Smokies

Daffodils! 70 degree weather! Mountains upon mountains! We are getting stronger, and with a new pair of bright green kicks for Emily (well, they're mud-stained now....), things seem to be on the upswing! We're taking a moment of relaxing, and thought we'd throw some pictures up for all you folks not living our simple life to enjoy.

Margaux's favorite Jack Kerouac quote: "When you reach the top of a mountain, keep climbing." We don't have much of a choice but to keep climbing out here, but we're strong women! We got this! Also, how lucky are we to have this view on the daily???

EmSklar is cute even when we're in a creepy shelter (don't worry, Mom(s), they're usually not as creepy).

Life isn't always peachy out here. Good thing we're WFR's (Don't worry, Mom(s) round two)!

Mostly, life is about giggling, largely just the two of us in our tinytent, but now sometimes also with friends. And yes, our trail names have stuck. Giggles and Chuckles at your service.

  1. Hi Scrapes and $klar. You may have trail names now, but I'm still partial to office names.

I'm missing y'all at Kalamazoo, which is also trying to push daffodil shoots up through the recently-thawed ground, though it hasn't yet approached a 70 degree day. But I'm having a great time following your blog (which I think you're keeping up with very well, by the way, given the circumstances).

You mentioned that you are getting stronger, and you mentioned that you have hiked your first hundred miles, and both of those mentionings made me think that, as I follow your blog, I'd love to be able to keep track of your statistics as you progress, perhaps in a Captain's Log sort of way. Are you keeping tabs on miles covered per day, hours on trail per day, elevation up or down per day, etc? I'd love to be able to follow those details of your trek, and I think it'd be cool for you two to look back on your stats afterward, perhaps even for the sake of making some informative charts and graphs.

In other news, Cedar is getting pretty good at driving racecars and the office staff is having a great time continuing to edit that big document--you know which one.

    Love,

    BC
